Full Moon in Capricorn

This Full Moon occurs only three days after the important June Solstice (see my recent blog posting for that event.) A Full Moon along the Capricorn/Cancer (Solstice) axis is a powerful time that reflects the polarity of the Great Mother/Father archetypes. And since the Full Moon is an illumination of the darkness, we have a lot of shadow to look at, particularly with the worldwide imbalance of masculine control and power, archetypally associated with Capricorn, and its domination of the Cancerian archetype of nurturing, caring for the Earth as a sacred duty. Thousands of years of patriarchal hegemony have so wounded our civilization that we are ecologically, and socially out of balance, and on the verge of extinction.

But this Full Moon chart shows a trine to the Sun from Jupiter in Pisces, and a sextile to the Moon in Capricorn. Jupiter, our expansive and spiritual force, is helping to harmonize the opposition between these two great archetypes, and in Pisces is asking us to heal these wounds within each on of us by looking deeply into where we are connected to each other, where our souls have a common purpose: to heal, regardless of the color of our skin or our religion or nationality.

Mercury has gone direct as of the 22nd, but we probably won’t start to feel any clarity returning until it comes back to the point where it went retrograde, which is around July 7th. Meanwhile, Neptune, the planet of our unconscious and our imagination, is doing its yearly retrograde on June 25th, where it will be until December 1st. The two form right angles (squares) to each other through the first week of July and so unclear thinking, even deception, can be more likely, but also personal dreaming and visioning are favored.

Venus in Cancer is in a strong opposition to Pluto at this Full Moon, which may be characterized by power plays or power struggles in relationships, or simply more intimate intensity than usual in our personal lives. Venus in Cancer tends to want to remain at home and protected, and with Pluto pulling on it there may be strong protests for needs of safety and security.

The first week of July may be an intense one, as Mars opposes Saturn and then squares Uranus, forming what’s called a T-square to Uranus. These are indicators of tension and unstable aggressive energies worldwide: Mars being our naturally action-oriented energy and Saturn being authority and restriction, while Uranus symbolizes revolution and sudden change. But to beware of these energies is to be-aware, and to be watchful for them as they arise in ourselves, so that we are not surprised or taken aback when we see them arising in others.

All charts here are using Natural House system: i.e. the Ascendant is always at 0˚ of Aries.
